In celebration of the opening of the exhibition “La Fabrique du vivant”, this concert by IRCAM brings us to the heart of listening to the living through two works.
Regnum lapideum, the third chapter of Systema Naturæ, a work for four hands by the Italians Mauro Lanza and Andrea Valle, completes the systematic reporting of the two artists on natural elements found in a terra incognita. In this chapter dedicated to minerals objects and living electro-mechanical systems are scattered on the floor alongside traditional acoustic instruments; a sort of catalogue of imaginary minerals.
Faced with this mineral world, Le nubi non scoppiano per il peso ("The Clouds Don’t Explode Under Their Own Weight”) by Maura Lanza examines gravity and the fall of a drop of water. Measure and listen to that which appears immeasurable and inaudible.
